50 Shades of Grey Concern....

Ok... so I've written on my blog why this book has pissed me off... NOW after a conversation on Twitter and reading a blog by The Romance Man... I'm going to share my concern.  (RM I hope ya don't mind!)

Ok... I'd seen The Romance Man's Blog about him and his wife trying some BDSM because they were curious... I don't remember if it started because of 50 or not, but still... A LOT of people have become curious since these books came out.  Which I'm ALL for!!! What concerns me... is people trying to just jump right into BDSM because of these books.  Thinking it's ok to just sign a contract with a Dom because well... that's how it was done in the book... or people trying to jump into a scene and NOT understand... you have to build up to a scene... and trying it once... well I don't like or I'm not into because there was no build up or talking before hand on what would like to be tried...  PLUS... not everyone likes or wants pain... they don't want to be spanked or give them, BUT... BUT there is something that Curious BDSM people who want to look into these things... or couples who want to try it... should look into Sensual BDSM... IF... IF... they enjoy that... then they could work up to more if both parties are interested.  I keep thinking of this conversation and I just keep thinking... if The Romance Man and his Wife had a not so great experience, but are still curious... how many others out there are thinking these same things?  How many others out there are thinking... oh... I'll go to a Club and just jump into a situation with a Dom without realizing that they are WAY in over their head?  They may have a great time and experience, but how many won't because they know NOTHING?  Just like the author of the book... who just did online research?  So... I'm thinking... I'm gonna start posting ideas on here... maybe... I haven't decided completely on that... but I am offering my brain... IF you have questions... need ideas... I'm more then willing to help.  It's been a while since I've been in the scene... the last year I've been getting back into it, but I used to Mentor... and I'm still very willing to do that...

50 Shades of BAD....

I know there is all kinds of hype for 50 Shades of Grey... which I don't get!  It's not that the story line is bad(cause I wouldn't know!)  The writing is horrible!! Not just horrible... but BAD!!! Piss poor!  how many ways can I say it?!?!?  I couldn't even read the samples!  That to me is BAD BAD BAD!!!!  I thought... ok maybe the second book will be better... OMG it DOESN'T get better!  It's the same with the 3rd!  I'm sorry... if the writing sucks so bad I don't like ANY of the first 3 chapters of 3 books... OMG.... that's HORRIBLE!!!!  So.... who cares what the book is about?  because I couldn't read it!  I sure as hell wasn't going to pay 9.99 for it!  Now... after all the damn hype it was getting I thought... ok I'll try it again.  Nope... still SUCKED!!!

OK.... so that's what I thought of the actual writing... I've heard from those who have actually been able to read this series... I guess they could get past the bad writing.... Anyway... so I'm hearing about the BDSM aspect of this book... and the things I'm hearing just really piss me off!!  and DON'T get me started on the whole "mommy porn" crap!!!  Plus I'm hearing it's not all that great when it comes to the erotica... so can someone answer me this?!? How in the hell did this book become popular?  Unless it's just typical fashion of people jumping on the damn bandwagon... DUDE... there are SO many better books... If it's all just because she piggybacked off Twilight... well one would think that an editor would be able to say... "Hey, you really need to make the flow of this better.  Your writing is a little stiff and you jump from point to point WAY too much!"  and I got this JUST from the SAMPLE chapters!!  You can't tell me it gets better!!

Next... the "real" world a GOOD Dom is NOT going to enter a contract or try to enter a contract with a VIRGIN!!!!  I'm hearing this is in the book... REALLY?!?!  WHAT?!?!?  OK... if you've never been or read anything on BDSM then I could understand your complete and utter lack of intelligence... BUT supposedly she LOOKED into this!!! Where's the disclaimer at the beginning?  Cherise Sinclair has one... and that to me... WOW... I really respect that!!  Because there are way too many people who could read this and think... oh... so this is how it's done.... Wake up!!! This is NOT how it's done!!

I will say... I don't live the lifestyle... that means I'm not in it 24/7... I am however and have been into BDSM since I was an adult.  If you're interested in learning more... check out FetLife... GREAT site!  Great place to meet people in your area who are also into all kinds of things... Kink, BDSM and just about anything non vanilla... and well some into vanilla as well :D  Thing is... most of these people are NOT going to judge you and your lack of knowledge on the subject, but will embrace you and make you feel welcome!  Hello...  most of us there have been where you are... we've been through and are STILL discovering NEW things!  That's one of the best things... there is always new things to learn or explore!  Plus... ANYONE into Kink or BDSM will tell you that the MOST important thing... SAFETY!!!!  That's why there are Safe Words... a true Dom/Domme will help you explore your limits SAFELY and want you to reach sub space but a true Dom/Domme isn't wanting to hurt you only push your limits... they will teach you new things about yourself... and while most don't understand it...  it's actually the sub who's in control.  A good Dom/Domme will know their sub and watch and make sure they are OK... trust is a BIG thing!  Granted not all share my views... and these are mine... but if this is something you're interested in... by all means check it out!  There's a whole community who's willing to help and share their knowledge!  Safe, Sane and Consensual!!

Ack! I HATE being blindsided!!!

Ok... Sandra D. Bricker's Always the Baker Never the Bride has me SUPER pissed!!!! I would NEVER have gotten this book... even for FREE if I'd known... It's a Christian Book... You want to read Christian books... by ALL means... go forth! Read!  Do I want to read Christian books? HELL NO!!! I don't want to read about your "God" and how he's always with me... and how he'll be there to help me when I need him... SORRY... I don't believe in your "God"!!!!  Christianity is one of the youngest religions out there!! Open your eyes and REALISE that!!!  It's out there if you do your research!  The other thing... if you're going to sell a book that's spouting about "God" have the decency to say... hey... this is a Christian Book... that way people like me will stay the hell away from it!  I don't need you shoving your views down my throat!  I sure as shit don't need to be blindsided by it in a damn book!! One that I HAD been enjoying until that point!  I did finish the book... it was OK... will I read anything by this author again?  NOPE!  I'm not happy!  I am glad that I didn't pay 9.99 for this book!!! I would have been super pissed if I'd spent 9.99 on this and NOT know it was Christian!  Ugh... ok... so... other then that... it's not bad... but Author's need to warn you!!! GRRRR!!!!!

I'm a baaaadddd..... bad girl!!

Ok... so I haven't been keeping up with this whole blog thing... it's only been a few days so... I'm making myself stop reading and come type a little bit on here lol  I've been rereading J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series... I've been having Wrath withdraw and wanted to read his story... and well I got sucked into the Series again lol  I'm about to read Zsadist and Bella's story(I think he's my Fav of them all... ok really I'd take any of the Brothers lol)  The other reason I haven't written on here... well I moved from the Texas Hill Country back down to the Houston area... and my allergies are kicking my ass!! If you don't have allergies... well mine are not like most.  I really need allergy shots, but being unemployed with no medical just kind of sucks... here's why... Most people with allergies get runny noses, sinus pressure and headaches... I get all of those, but add... migraines, hives, swelling and misery.  no... seriously.  I'm allergic to trees, ragweed(which is really bad down south) mold(again super bad down south) poison ivy? well that one will close my throat up really fast and I don't even have to touch the stuff... just get within 5-10 ft of it! grr... Oh... and lets not forget my food allergies... yep... SO much fun!  MSG? it's an allergy for me not a chemical reaction most have.  lol If I'm not careful eating Chinese food... yep you guessed it... hives and swelling... oh... best part the worst of the hives are on my face... my face gets all red and blotchy... and OMG it itches SO bad!!  I mean like seriously wanting to peel your face off itching... now... the swelling... that's another fun part!  My WHOLE body swells up... I'm talking anywhere from 20-50 lbs of swelling... and when that happens... my joints hurt... it hurts to walk, sleep, hell just sitting hurts.  Moving up NW had really helped, but since I'm back down S... well lets just saying I'm having lots and lots of fun!!! But... reading is something that helps me forget.  My books take me to someplace else... my own little fairyland.  Well I should type more... I really should, but I kind of forgot how much it hurts to type while my hands are swollen(it's like having arthritis)  I'm like the live version of the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man from Ghostbusters! lol So... I'm gonna go back to reading, but maybe I'll come back and type some more later....

I love reading series... I don't mind stand alones, but for me series are just awesome!  Now... here's a goal I'm going to set for myself and hopefully keep!! lol  All the Authors I have read... I'm going to try and blog about each and every one of them!! With the different books I've read and what I think and why I think you'd like them... *deep breath*  that may be a huge undertaking, but.... Imma gonna try!!!

Cherry Popped!!!

OK, OK, OK.... so I am now officially a "blogger" yay!!! I'm going to try and keep up with this and work on writing reviews on the books I read... which is A LOT!!!! I have my own way of writing things and I'm a big time smart ass... you've been warned!

A little about me to get started.  I'm a 34 yr old single mom of a 13 yr old boy *shudders* a teenager... I know, BUT... I'm lucky... My kiddo is actually pretty cool.  Although I think some of it has to do with me :D (a little ego boost here) lol  I mean really... I watch all kinds of movies and I *gasp* play video games!!! lol For my 34th Bday I ended up getting myself a Gears of War 3 console... I play online with my son and some great guys who play Gears... I'm the oldest, but they all think it's pretty cool I play lol so...

One of my other *loves* is movies... I only own about 600 DVD's and I have a hard time walking by them in a store and NOT picking up a new one... or two... or three or four! lol Movies are just books in picture form! :D

Which leads me to another *love* BOOKS!!! Did I mention I read A LOT?  When I moved recently I had um... around 20 or so boxes of just books... this doesn't include my Kindle which I have some 600 books on... yes... again... I read A LOT!!! I have recently been trying to write a book... I figured what the hell... I'm unemployed which for me sucks!  I hate not doing something!!! I have all this shit in my head and ideas... I figured why not write them out?  So I'm working on it... I don't have any training, but eh... it gets what I have in my head out... which is another reason I decided I'd start blogging... What better way to get stuff out of my head?  Trying to talk to people about books I love reading? or movies? or even video games? so... I'm giving it a try... and well I had to pop my cherry at some point... so I did it!!! yay!!! go me!! lol
